PECULIAR FESTIVAL IN LLEIDA

In Lleida city, this  May 2013 Moorish troops led by Said Musa will reconquer the city to the Christian side led by the christian captain from the Urgell troops. This staging fights between Muslims and Christians is unique in Lleida for victory alternates, so one year the Moors win, and the next the Christians do it. Since the recovery of this celebration, eighteen years ago, the Moors and Christians wanted to be an example of respect and coexistence between cultures. This curious parade takes place after the notorious Festa Major (local festival) in Lleida, during the weekend of 18th and 19th May 2013. The location of the parade is Seu Vella, the beautiful cathedral that overlooks the city of Lleida from the hill. 

Another strange but very dear tradition is the APLEC DEL CARGOL (Snail-eating Festival) in which groups of people gather together to have fun, drink, dance and above all, eat snails... and other foods that do not cause offense to eyes, brain or digestive juices. It is regarded as a Traditional Festival of National Interest. You can see the pictures (of the gatherings and the snails) HERE.

30th APRIL 2013 Tuesday	09:00 am:       Pick up our partners from the Hotel “Ciutat de Tarrega” 10:00 am:       Visit to the Department of Education in Lleida. 11:00 am:       Visit to “Escola Superior d’Hosteleria” (Culinary High                         School) 12:00 pm:       Visit to ” Seu Vella” (Most ancient cathedral in Lleida city)
	14:00              Back to Tàrrega.  Lunch at Restaurant “Gat del Rosal”.                         Price: 10’50 euros
	16:00              “Taller Alba”: how to integrate disabled people in society                         through culinary workshops. 17:30              Short talk by  “Slow Food organization” in Lleida province. 18:30              Guided walking tour around Tàrrega. Short reception at Town              Hall by the Mayor and  back to the Hotel.

We present the premises of our                         school to the partners and their students. 13:00 to 14:00: Discussion about the outcomes of the project and further                         decisions to take.
	14:00              Lunch: Demonstration of how to cook “Paella”.
	16:00               Party time. Finale.

	16:00              Guided walking tour in iconic site in Barcelona. 18:00              Take each group and leave them at their Hotel or minibus.

APRIL SKYPE MEETING

Our next and fruitful Skype meeting will be next Thursday, 18th of April 2013, at 7.00 pm. CFA Tàrrega will have an available microphone... at last!

AWARD FOR A CHEF IN TARREGA

We proudly announce that the chef from the restaurant La Cava, in our city, Tàrrega, has won the award for the BEST CHEF OF THE YEAR 2013.
