Food exhibition in Leipzig

The historical panel in Leipzig, part of the Foundation "House of History" of the Federal Republic of Germany hosts a temporary exhibition about eating and drinking in Germany.

The small exhibition shows about 1200 objects, as for example the first recipe book in German language and other exhibits related to the topic. It focalises nutrition habits in Germany and its development during the past 60 years, including factors like family, life style, job, conviction, religion and many more. Another core theme is multi-cultural cuisine. In this sense one of the exhibits shows the guest book of the first German pizza place. One interesting part approaches the topic "price and quality" and how much ethnical and ecologic criteria influence food habits nowadays. Of course sustainability and food waste plays its part in the exhibition as well, especially referring to the differences between the German post-war era and todays "waste-society".

All in all it is a nice interactiv exhibition which introduces many interesting topics regarding food. We hope we could awaken your interest, since we will include a tour through the museum in the program of the next project meeting.
